Sundered

Sundered Prelude One arriving next week

It’s the plague! Run for your lives! Ladies and gentlemen, for more than the last week I have been the victim of a virulent plague, so nasty and offensive it can only have come from deep in the cold void of space. I’m pretty sure I caught it from that weird-looking guy in the milk section at my local grocery store (I thought he was a little suspicious), but in any event, suffice to say that it has played holy havoc on my podcast plans. It seems that all I do around here is make excuses for delay after delay, but enough of that. I shall delay no more.

Mark your calendars. On Thursday, 7 February, the first of a handful of Sundered Preludes will go live. Think of these Preludes as a really ostentatious term for short stories, set in the Sundered world. I will roll out a few of these Preludes on a regular basis before we launch into the full epic novel itself.

Now, these stories are not a prerequisite to experiencing the novel Sundered. You can skip them and enjoy the novel on its own. But I hope you give them a try — not only are they a fun way to introduce yourself to the Sundered universe, but I’ll be dropping a few very juicy clues to the main novel to reward the attentive, so keep your ears perked!

For those of you who have had the patience to endure all my inexcusable prevaricating and dissembling, thank you! I hope that you enjoy the material when we launch on Thursday. See you there!

late 2007, huh? Sure.

By now it is manifestly evident that I am a liar.

I broadcast to the world that Sundered was coming in late 2007, and 2007 is now a closed book, sans Sundered.

To find the guilty parties for this shameful delay, you have to look no farther than Mr. J.C. Hutchins, Mr. Scott Sigler, Mr. Tee Morris, Ms. Christiana Ellis, or any of the other creeps who have elevated the art of the podiobook to such a lofty level that one can no longer grab a handheld recorder and just talk. I have now recorded the first episode of Sundered four times over, and each has been a significant improvement over the last in terms of both technical quality and, even more importantly, vocal performance.

But it’s not quite good enough for release. Not yet.

So this is what I’m going to beg of you all. Please, please give me a couple of weeks to train my voice and fine-tune my equipment until I feel at least reasonably confident that the recorded episodes can match what I think — what I hope — is the quality of the written material.

Thanks so much for being patient with someone who may just be too picky for his own good, and I hope more than anything that when episode 1 rolls out in a couple of weeks, it will be worth all these delays.

Have a great New Year everyone, and we’ll see you all in a couple of weeks.

almost there … stay on target!

Everyone,

Episode 1 is coming in the next few days. Intent on getting both the performance and the manuscript just right, I’ve already made a number of trial recordings of episode one in an effort to improve my reading of the material, and the technical quality.

Revealing the behind-the-scenes process may appear unprofessional, but that’s fine with me. I wanted to assure everyone that much work continues to go on for the debut despite a lack of updates in the past couple of weeks here at the site.

Just a few more days!

The official Sundered teaser promo

Sundered is coming soon.

But the very first official promo is here. As a way to kick off this feed, I’m dropping this sucker in to get the ball rolling.

As heard on 7th Son Book Three: Destruction and Nocturnal!

Special thanks to Justin R. Durban for the musical score, and to Alan Bainbridge for vocal narration!

Hang on to your hats, folks!

Hey podcasty people!

Sunderednovel.com is slowly coming together … and sooner than I had said … after I delayed the launch … but at the same time as the original launch … sort of thing.

Over the next few hours the RSS feeds will pop up, the teaser promo will drop in said RSS feed, and content will begin to appear! So hold on to your hats, or, if you don’t have hats, hold on to your hair, or, if you don’t have hair, just hold on to something!
