Sundered Prelude 1

Can my eyes be deceiving me? Is this actually content, genuine content, that I see?

Yes indeed, people, here at last is the first episode of Sundered, Part 1 of Prelude One — Traits.

Introduce yourself to the world of Sundered as an exhausted stranger, stranded in the wastes, rolls into the unappealing settlement called Liss … and meets a mysterious woman who will set his life on a strange, dangerous new path.

This is a long one, people — over thirty minutes of pure story!

I just endured two days of seemingly unsolvable technical issues with the mp3 encoding of this file. Will the delays and stumbling blocks never cease? I seem to have found a workaround to the issue that was troubling me. Please, if you experience trouble with the file, with the feeds, or anything, let me know and I’ll get on it!

Special thanks to Nathan Lowell for generously giving some of his time helping me solve my technical issues. Nathan has an awesome series of four trillion podcast novels at: Durandus.org. Check them out, and tell him Raphael sent ya!

Promo (and pimping) in this episode: Scott Sigler’s INFECTED. Go to: http://www.scottsigler.com and http://infectednovel.com and learn why the entire human race is DOOMED!

Thanks for listening, and for your patience. You people rock!

I didn’t get through the whole PDF preview, so it was good to hear the whole story. This is good stuff. I’m eagerly awaiting the next episode!

Great start Raphael! Keep it coming!

The environment of the story gives me the feeling of the movie Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone from 1983. Not a great film by any stretch of the imagination but the surroundings instill a sense of “I’m going to get clubbed in the back of the head at any second if I’m not paying attention”.

Sigler’s got Junkies, JC has Clones, Harwood utilizes Palms Mommas and Daddies perhaps your followers could be the Subhumans???

    Sam — awesome comments, thanks!

Subhumans for the followers? That is a fantastic suggestion! I’m going to let that idea bubble for a few episodes and then put the question out to everyone. The subhumans will figure prominently throughout much of the preludes and the main novel; they are so disgusting, however, that I wonder if anyone would want to be associated with them…

Spacehunter! You are of course correct that a great movie it is not, but I have a soft spot in my heart for it. Perhaps the world they invented somehow informed my writing subconsciously. You’ll see even more shades of that in the second Prelude.

P.S Surprised to see that more people are not posting here. I am sure people will start flooding here soon, now that your Prelude 1 has been released.

Gerard, thanks for your comment and your compliment — much appreciated!

I’m being intentionally slow with marketing Sundered through these early episodes, to let the audience build organically while more content gets released. Once we’re a few episodes into the Preludes the promos should begin showing up in other podcasts, and then we should see a bump in activity.

Until then, the comments you and others have left have been really great, so keep them coming!

Perhaps subhumans doesn’t isn’t the best idea for naming the listeners, but how about the Sunder-cats?! Hmm, hmm? It just came to me, a little silly I’ll admit.

Sunder-cats… Wow. It’s crazy, but I love it! I’ll have to sneak it into a future episode, if only as an in-joke.

Who knows, since we already have sub-humans, maybe mutants from Plun-Darr may soon have to make an appearance, what do you guys think?
