late 2007, huh? Sure.
By now it is manifestly evident that I am a liar.
I broadcast to the world that Sundered was coming in late 2007, and 2007 is now a closed book, sans Sundered.
To find the guilty parties for this shameful delay, you have to look no farther than Mr. J.C. Hutchins, Mr. Scott Sigler, Mr. Tee Morris, Ms. Christiana Ellis, or any of the other creeps who have elevated the art of the podiobook to such a lofty level that one can no longer grab a handheld recorder and just talk. I have now recorded the first episode of Sundered four times over, and each has been a significant improvement over the last in terms of both technical quality and, even more importantly, vocal performance.
But it’s not quite good enough for release. Not yet.
So this is what I’m going to beg of you all. Please, please give me a couple of weeks to train my voice and fine-tune my equipment until I feel at least reasonably confident that the recorded episodes can match what I think — what I hope — is the quality of the written material.
Thanks so much for being patient with someone who may just be too picky for his own good, and I hope more than anything that when episode 1 rolls out in a couple of weeks, it will be worth all these delays.
Have a great New Year everyone, and we’ll see you all in a couple of weeks.
Don’t worry, R, we’ll wait. We keep checking back for the episode, and we won’t let a little delay stop us.
I sympathize with your dilemma; I’ve been sitting on a novel for a year, with the same issues. Finally hoodwinked a co-narrator, but still expect I won’t be satisfied until the audio does justice to the story.
For what it’s worth, you’re making the right choice.

Extremely kind and supportive words, Melanie, thank you.
I’ve got at least three “preludes” (a fancy name for tie-in short stories) which I will roll out as appetizers for all of you … and a chance for me to polish my vocal style.
Stay tuned for an announcement on that very soon!

Oh PS if the story is good, the sound won’t be too important, its only in the not so gripping stories that people turn against the narrator for something to blame…hehe no stress right =p

Hoffer802 –
Oh, ruddy hell. Raising your expectations to an unreasonable level was not a side-effect of these delays that I had anticipated. Uh-oh!
Well, I’m delaying no more. See my newest post about the first Prelude launch date.
I really hope that you find it worth it! Thanks for your comments.
